The Richest Man Alive is Passing Down His Throne

The Modern Dynasty 👑

Bernard Arnault is thriving as the richest man alive and he’s ready to live his best life in retirement. He’s worth $200B+, so I’d say he’s earned a break to enjoy all that money.

No, we’re not talking about Salma Hayek’s husband. François-Henri Pinault is the CEO of Kering & owns brands like Gucci, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, and Saint Laurent.

LVMH is the parent company to 75+ luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Fendi, Celine, and Christian Dior. They even helped make Rihanna a billionaire (another day, another slay).

And Bernard is the parent to 5 kids. Who he put in senior positions at a different one of his brands. It’s giving Logan Roy energy.

Getting deja-vu? The LVMH Empire and Succession have a lot in common and I’m not just talking about their fashion games (both = iconic).

There’s a rule at the company that when you turn 80 you have to retire. Bernard’s 73, so he’s deciding which kid will be his successor. He only has a few years left to figure it out and said he’ll choose based on merit.

HERE WE GO AGAIN.

THE ARNAULTS

The Roys The Super Rich Kids With Daddy’s Empire

These Are The OG Nepo Babies 🍼

It’s time to embrace your inner Elle Woods while we break down each kid’s credentials and see if we can figure this out. What, like it’s hard?

Let’s look at the candidates:

DELPHINE ARNAULT
  • Delphine is the Oldest Child (47)

  • She graduated from French Business School EDHEC and London School of Economics.

  • Has been Executive VP of Louis Vuitton since 2013 & is in charge of Products

  • Is now the CEO of Dior ($11B+ brand)

  • She’s also a member of LVMH's board

It’s giving if Connor Roy was in the family business and wasn’t so… Connor Roy-like.

ANTOINE ARNAULT
  • Antoine is the Second Oldest (45)

  • Has degrees from French Business School INSEAD & Canadian Business School HEC Montreal

  • He’s the Head of Communications & Environment for LVMH

  • Is also the CEO of luxury menswear label Berluti & Chairman of Italian cashmere specialist Loro Piana since 2013

It’s giving Kendall Roy “But I’m the eldest boy!” energy.

ALEXANDRE ARNAULT
  • Alexandre is the Middle Child (30)

  • Has a Masters Degree from French University Ecole Polytechnique

  • Was previously CEO of luggage-maker Rimowa ($900M+ brand) for 4 years, since 2016

  • Is now the Executive VP, in charge of Product & Communications at Tiffany

It’s giving Shiv Roy’s girlboss era. I mean have you seen the revitilization of Tiffany’s?

FREDERIC ARNAULT
  • Frederic is the Second Youngest (28)

  • Graduated from France's Ecole Polytechnique

  • He was previously Tag Heuer’s Head of Strategy & Digital Director since 2017

  • Is now CEO of Tag Heuer ($1B+ brand) as of 2020

It’s giving Roman Roy vibes. I can’t tell you why exactly, but his face says it all.

JEAN ARNAULT
  • Jean is the Youngest (24)

  • Has a Masters Degree in Financial Maths from MIT & in Mechanical Engineering from London’s Imperial College

  • He’s been Director of Marketing & Development of Louis Vuitton's watches since 2021

  • BTW he’s single (odds we get him on Inbox to IRL??)

It’s giving if Cousin Greg was a sibling.

Ok fine, I give up. This is an impressive group, it could be any of them. Good thing the fate of the empire’s not in our hands. Let’s just hope there’s no Tom Wambsgans waiting to steal their thunder (Spoiler alert).

Now they just need a reality show so we can watch it play out. A Succession Spin Off?

By day I’m a thoughtboi, by night I’m actually a kind human being. I’m a conduit between the realm of inspiration and capitalism. My work is not my priority—the bag is.
