Get in, we’re girlsplaining
After reading this, you’ll be able to girlsplain the economy, football, timing the market, and maybe even score a date. (~read time: 6 min)
Anything Taylor Swift-related is always my favorite thing to talk about, so get excited because we’ll be getting into:
The Beyonce Bump, Swiftonomics, and Barbie-Billion
Football Girl Fall

Hot Girl Summer
The Beyonce Bump, Swiftonomics, and Barbie-Billion 🎟
What year is it 2012? The world might not be ending but the economy is burning…and who’s saving us? The twenty-something teenage girls.
Who would’ve guessed that it’s actually cool to be a fan girl again?
And I have 3 words for you: Barbie, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift (ok fine, 4).
August slipped away but we’re still thinking about the Summer Renaissance.
Here are the facts:
Combined, the Big 3 boosted the economy this summer to an expected $8.5 Billion. Similar to how Queen of the North Sophie Turner lifts Joffrey Joe Jonas on her shoulders so he can see at a concert (iykyk).
The Eras Tour is set to break records as the first tour to cross $1 Billion in ticket sales alone.
The Renaissance Tour single-handedly boosted the Swedish economy after opening the world tour in Stockholm.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie hit $1 Billion in ticket sales in just 17 days.
It’s a girl’s world, and the boys are just living in it 🥱
Place your bets on what’s carrying fall — I’m guessing: Olivia Rodrigo’s new album GUTS, rewatching (Gossip Girl, Friends, or Gilmore Girls), and cuffing season.
Football Girl Fall
Speaking of Barbie infiltrating the Mojo Dojo Casa House. The Swifties are taking over Football. 🏈
Goodbye hot girl summer, and hello football girl fall.
Alix Earle, Taylor Swift, and Kim K (allegedly) aren’t just DATING NFL stars… they’re reclaiming Football FOR THE GIRLS.
BTW — all of the events below were ON THE SAME DAY. It’s like the NFL said “How do we rebrand and capture a whole new audience”. By saying goodbye to super fans and hello to super stans DUH.
No seriously search football on any social — are you seeing any actual game play??
Alix Earle showed up to the Miami Dolphins home opener slaying in a cute, Dolphin-themed, jersey fit and took over the TikTok timeline. Filming a GRWM and all.
Kim Kardashian isn’t even performing in the Apple Music Superbowl Halftime show — yet all anyone can think about when they think Superbowl is her iconic announcement that Usher’s performing. Why Kim?… because she’s seen Usher twice in concert…lol Kris Jenner works haaard.
Saved the best for last. Let’s talk about the Taylor Swift Effect. She’s Swift in the end zone, and Swifter in the Numbers:
Since Taylor's appearance at the Chiefs game, Travis Kelce's jersey sales increased 400%, putting him into the top 5 selling jerseys in the NFL. AND he’s gained over 300k social media followers.
The Official NFL Tiktok account changed their bio after the game. On the same day as the Superbowl Halftime Show BTW.
The company that made Travis Kelce's outfit changed the name from "Bedroom Painting" to "1989 Bedroom Painting" when they found out Taylor Swift was at the game. Since no one knew the original name, they got millions of impressions because people thought Travis planned it.
Just search “Seemingly Ranch” on social media (or don’t you might regret it). The social media managers have taken it and RAN.
The conversation starter for dads and daughters everywhere. Basically the world revolves around Taylor Swift (as it should).
Women are Better (Investors) than Men
Forbes said it first 💸
The girlies aren’t only saving the economy through our spending, we’re financially savvy too.
People are taking girl math too far — it’s just a silly little TikTok trend to show off why we justify our purchases. But actually, we’re financially literate and we often hold the spending power in households (we love those credit card points).
Female hedge fund managers have also consistently and soundly beaten their male colleagues as well (a topic for another day — stay tuned).
So why are women better investors than men? BTW this conclusion has been addressed, researched, and reported several times. It turns out even the proximity of a woman increased a dude’s investment performance (lol).
Men in general, they reported, earned almost 1% less than women per year in their stock-picking endeavors, while single men underperformed their single women friends by 1.44% per annum!
So why? Men rank higher than women in two MAJOR ways:
1) overconfidence
2) overactivity
You could’ve guessed it: men were 2x as likely to rate themselves “very knowledgeable” about investing while women were 2x as likely to admit that they are “not very knowledgeable.” (the girlies gotta start embodying the male ego).
Oh yeah, also ↓
Both men and women reduce their net returns through trading. Human beings are overconfident about their abilities, their knowledge, and their future prospects.
Basically at the end of the day, we’re all the same, and you can’t really beat the market sustainably by day trading.
Time in the market > Timing the market
This is basically why I helped create The Ultimate Guide To Managing Your Money in Your 20s. So we can all retire early and become millionaires by 30! (more details later, but sign up while you’re here to attend live & get sent a PDF Cheat Sheet).
Btw… speaking of football, money, and what was the other thing? Oh yeah, cuffing season. Wanna get in the game? This might just be YOUR Superbowl.
